Forgiven Or Not Poem by Michael Jenkins

Forgiven Or Not

I wouldn't know where to start on this
Good or bad, right or wrong
such simple words for a very complex situation
So many words, and yet a feeling of speechlessness
What to say

The beginning was so perfect
Taking a chance on faith,
defying everyone's opinions
going on your own beliefs,
taking care of everyone,
showing what love really was.

The biggest day of your life,
so blissful, so hopeful,
everything seemed right.
Then, a 1-2 punch, and you fall into despair,
losing belief in yourself and everyone else.
You fall into a bottomless pit
Worse, you don't even try to get out of it.

Now, things have changed, yet they haven't
you're still in the pit,
but everyone else went on.
However the scars that were left by your fall have left deep imprints
That have yet to heal
For all the positives instilled
the negatives overwhelm
For all the great memories
there are also nightmares
Should you be forgiven
should you be condemned
I cannot say for sure
All that I know is
the imprint you left
will be here
Forever
