Forgiveness For The Future Poem by Daniel Sangulukani Chibaka

Forgiveness For The Future

I longed to forgive,
I longed to forget.
Inclined to hide the betrayal
And live without regret.
To dig a grave
And bury the past,
To conquer pain,
And giving you another chance.

But, I guess
the betrayal was too great.
Searched the power of love,
And stumbled into the rage of hate.
I simply could not forgive,
My heart clutched by rancour.
Our relationship would not last,
With a lie as an anchor

But do not fail,
My wrath shall cool.
Hold on to any hope
And in turn prove me a fool.
One day, I know,
We shall laugh till no end.
Pray to God we humour soon
So that you may see me smile again.
