Forgotten. Poem by Derrick Andrews

Forgotten.

Reborn into a world of hate and shame.
All that is around me is dead and vague.
Strip me of my righteous fame,
And let me fall, into the plague.

Let me rot and join the earth.
Make me relive my rebirth.
Cast away my mortal soul,
Then torch it dry like blackened coal.

Melt away my pseudo-smile.
Eviscerate me of my denial.
Skin me bare and wear my coat.
Ignite me on a sea-bound boat.

Hold your tears, for I am gone,
Lost in the mist of Babylon.
Cherish my child, son or daughter,
For my name is one that's writ on water.
