Forgotten (1994) Poem by Lil Sutton

Forgotten (1994)

Rating: 5.0

LIke a memory from the past you came back to unexpectidly.
You're a mystery man
BuT I should know you like the back of my hand.

Emotions are running high and strong.
I am told my feelings are wrong.
To you to reacll teh happy days.
Too old to forget the times you werent there.
I always thought you didn't care.

To be a father figure was something you couldn't deliver.
That's all i needed, a guide.
That's all I wanted, a father figure.

Birthdays forgotten, christmas cards were never sent.
You're the man I'm suppose to knopw best.
Each year I know you less & less.

Precious years have come and gone.
Dissapointment, happiness, my childhood and the begining of my adulthood.

You're a father figure for two but I often think the three of us are forgotten.
We're just a memory from your past. One that wasn't important enough to last.

To be a father figure was just something you could not deliver.

Wow! Sad but deep and powerful! A heartfelt write that really brought back memories of yesteryears! I wen through similar situation and I can relate to this well penned write! 10+++Through time I learned to forgive my father for he was not near us and he, unfortunately was misinformed about us by his stepmother! He died July last year and he had the chance to spend some close happy moments together! Thank you for sharing and God Bless You! Love and Peace for always! Romeo from New York City!
