Forsake Poem by Shrutika Nagpal

Forsake

How hard can it be
To love me baby
Probably not that much
‘Cause you did (maybe)
At least that’s what you said,
Or was it just in my head?

I believed you, because I loved you
I believed you, because I needed to,
But lookie, here I am,
And who knew, without you,

I won’t forsake what we had,
Cause unlike you, it makes me sad,
That it’s no more.

Now stop telling lies,
Of what you do
Stop trying to hide,
The rotten truth,
‘Cause nothing that you say
Can cease my tears.
Unless it’s something like,
“Come back to me, ”
I don’t like reality,
At least not if it makes you,
Nasty, mean, and far.

I won’t forsake what we had,
Cause unlike you, it makes me sad,
That it’s no more,
And though some time has passed
My love, my love, for you still lasts,
Just like before.

I’ve been spending way too long.
Looking for good in my life,
Or crying over the bad
That I caused in my life,
But now its over,
And this is what I call Closure.

I just realised now,
That there might be a day,
When I don’t need to see you,
Just so I can be okay,
A possibility,
it might just happen, to me,

Yet, I won’t forsake what we had,
Cause unlike you, it makes me sad,
That it’s no more,
And though some time has passed
My love, my love, for you still lasts,
Just like before.

Cause I love you,
Cause I love you,
Cause I love you,
And I hope,
You love me too.
