Four Compositions From Mankuthimmana Kagga

Four more compositions from D.V.G.'s Kagga

Then there was one who fell exhausted
From a game of going round and round.
And there was one who lived in a dream world
And forgot all about the firm ground.
A third one sat there judging
What was wrong and who was right -
Tell me, Thimma, you Simpleton,
Who among the three is the fool in sight?

There is no fun in eating all by oneself!
So said Brahma and got himself a companion -
This life is a great gift - why live it alone
Embrace the world, Thimma you simpleton!

(6)

Laughter and sorrow are two different tastes, that's all.
A soul that laughs is a flower that spreads fragrance.
Sorrow is a device that churns your soul and extracts the essence,
Learn to worship them both, O Thimma, you dunce!

From day to day and from minute to minute
Keep living your life, don't fear the future -
Thimma, you simpleton, your task is to live,
There is a maser who puts the details together.
