Kannada composition by Purandara Dasa
Translated by C.P. Ravikumar
Forever worry, that's the name of the game,
Until God enters your life and gives you an aim.
A man without a wife worries he has none,
But is he spared from worries, a man with one?
He worries whose wife is slow-witted, however -
He worries most, who weds a beautiful maiden.
A poor man worries he has no wealth.
A rich one worries even more -
Safeguarding his riches from thieves,
Even counting his riches is a chore!
There is one man who from worries is free -
The name Vitthala of Purandara who chants constantly.
