Four Thoughts Poem by Joseph Anthony Montefusco

Four Thoughts

“Truth”
In this world now-a-days
What we need is truth,
Whether talking on your cell
Or in a phone booth

But these today say
They’re asking for proof
As to why these lies
Are worse than the truth

“Lies”
As you walk down the street
Just fixing your tie
You hear two other people
Speaking nothing but lies

But you say damn just because
It’s not a surprise
Cause mentiras are surplus
In these fabricated times

'Life”
We’re born, grow up,
Go to school, get a wife
We live in this world
On a razor-edged knife

Walking the same path
And with the same strife
Such a monotonous feeling
In this thing we call life

“Death”
The most feared word in the world
We call it death
We see it and smell it all around
Until we take our last breath

Yet some still wonder
Why they die after smoking meth
But it all turns out in the end
You receive the same fate as Macbeth
