Fragment From A Spoof Quartet Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Fragment From A Spoof Quartet

There are four postures which you must always avoid:
Sitting on your bottom when you should be standing on your head.
I think that is what the Lord might have meant
When he reclined upon the serpent couch.
But that is not what I wanted to say,
As I was saying, that is not, etc.,
Or having said, wanted to say again.

Between the saying and the wanting
Comes the yawn;
And as I see it repeated on your mouth,
I leave you to guess the ending.
By the way, I have forgotten the other three postures.
Forgetting is remembrance in reverse.
Have you got a light? Always the
Same lighter, always the
Same lighter.
