Fraudulent Love Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

Fraudulent Love

You look at me but not really at me
You smile at me with a partial smile
You wave at me but not so wholly
You talk of love but not in action
You hug me but with half a hug
Your embrace is hollow and weak
In your avowal of love and loyalty
There is discernible resentment
My spirit sees it, my heart feels it
And thus my indifferent response

How can I give in to this fraud?
How can I surrender to this lie?
You see, my hands outstretched
My heart is unrestrained to you
I will stand here and wait in truth
When your heart is unconcealed
When your eyes are not masked
With fake smiles and false avowal
How can love and true friendship
Accompany fraudulent declaration?
