Friends Poem by Michael Boykin

Friends

Friends come and go
And come again like seasons
But never stay long enough to see the flowers grow
In the spring time
Because most friends don't make it through the winter
In my life
True friends come out on the colder days
When the frigid wind blackens my skin
And the blue sky is dark gray
When you doubt spring will ever come
Their presence brings the warmth of May
Or March I march on
Hoping my few friends do fade away
Like seasons
