Friendship Poem by kavita bhat

when the first time we met..
at each other we just stared...
we quietly sat on the corners of the bench
the bench.........that we shared....

it was our first day in school
everything around was completely new....
everyone seemed to be scared & afraid
that included me & you...

slowly slwoly days passed by.......
but we still started & ended with a HI!
i wanted to talk...i wanted to play
but with whom was the question in my way...

i was in need of an eraser one day
in my pencilbox which was missing
without me asking you for it
you slowly pushed your eraser towards me

i immediately looked up at you
i wondered what this could be
you blinked your eyes and gave a smile
which said 'I am there whenever u need me'

i felt so secured...
no longer i felt alone
i could feel something was binding us
i could feel the magic around....

we no longer sat on the corners of the bench
we had endless talks between a HI & a BYE! !
i now had someone to talk, play & share
i now had a friend, on whom i could rely...

you laughed with me...
you made me smile
and whenever i was in tears
you stood by my side...

thankyou for being around
your presence is something i wud always like to see
thankyou for being a friend
your friendship means a lot to me...
