i've been hiding
from the womb of
my mother,
then to her arms,
i've been hiding
at the library in
school
at the dormitory in
the university,
even in the chapel
for that daily morning
mass, i've been hiding
in those island
escapades, in the bushes
in the caves in
the sands of
hidden beaches, i've been
hiding in the
privacy of marriage,
i've been hiding away
from everything and
from everyone,
and in the last stance
i've hidden myself
in the hospital room
without a number,
and in the funeral
home,
in the tomb,
in the cemetery
for all
human people.
