Loraine Lotter (South Africa)
From Within
Let me have but a small taste
of what overflows.
I can see purity so clearly inside you,
from within.
Come wash through me what should be,
wash through me your purity,
needing to feel your gentle presence
carrying my soul.
From within, you are there.
Said your in love now, do I care?
As wetness mask my guilty eyes,
yes I do,
said yes I do.
What’s with keeping fingers entwined
when this shallow heart of mine,
enclosed in sadness,
fails to hide within you.
Said you want to help
carry the burden for me.
Just never think
about yourself.
In desperation I follow.
Please don’t leave me when it’s dark.
Said I do love you,
I do love you,
and I need you in my heart.
Just hold on, you tell me,
to that purity you shared.
As struggles follow,
you’ve always cared.
I can see,
you’ve always cared …
Let me have but a small taste
of what overflows.
Inside I can feel your gentle presence
carrying my soul.
