Further Meditations Poem by James L. A. Huetson

Further Meditations

If God is all of it
Then there is nothing wrong with any of it.
If there is nothing wrong with any of it
Why am I disturbed by it?

This is a world of predator and prey.
Neither is more blessed or protected than the other.
But the cries of the wounded, the injured, the torn,
And their screams of anguish tear at my heart.

I am helpless over this.
I cannot change one iota of it
And I cannot avoid knowledge of it.
I can feel everyone’s pain.
Sometimes I feel as if I will be suffocated by it.

I can surrender my life and all existence to God
But it does not provide the “Balm of Gilead”
To heal my soul.
“What will be, will be”
Is not a happy place.

In the end, all Life exists only in God.
