Mumbai City waits for Ganapati Bappa with
Much eagerness and enthusiasm for the
Magnificent festival of Ganapati, when
Mumbai echoes and reverberates with the chants of
Mumbai's darling God -Ganapati Bappa!
Gorgeous Ganapatis,
Graciously make their annual visit in
Grand style to every house, every pandal,
Gallant, resplendent with pearls and diamonds, A
Genius, full of learning, wisdom and compassion.
Vinayaka is here to bestow happiness,
Vignaharta is here to remove all obstacles,
Vignesa is here to sing and dance in joy,
Victory to Ganesa, Gajaanana, Gauriputra, Gananaayaka,
Victorious Elephant headed God - Our sweet Ganapati Bappa!
I have heard before that Mumbai is famous for Ganesh Pooja. Though I haven't seen yet I know much from this poem delineated by you. Every house is well decorated in Mumbai for Ganpati Bappa. The last stanza reveals the different names and works of Ganesh. A beautiful spiritual poem nicely executed.
Thank you Kumarmani ji. Ganesa Chathurthi is a wonderful festival. For the Mumbaikars, this is the best festival ever. You will see thousands of Ganapatis most beautifully sculpted and adorned. Please do visit Mumbai with your family during the Ganapati festival. Most heartily welcome to Mumbai. :)
For worshippers and devotees Sri Ganesh has many forms like Ganapati, Vinayaka, Vignaharta, Vignesa, Gajaanana, Gauriputra, Gananaayaka and many more through which He enacts various acts which reflect His intellectual and physical and spiritual attributes. Ganesh Chaturthi is one such moment to celebrate these powers of Sri Ganesh. Thanks a lot, Geeta ji, for so nicely and devotedly presenting the benevolent, kind & gorgeous images of the Lord.
Thank you Rajnish ji. I love the Ganapati festival period in Mumbai, when the whole of Mumbai is in a festive mood. The picture of Ganapati here is that of our wadi, very near to my house.. Yesterday, i visited three beautiful Ganapatis of our area and prayed for the peace of all. Every day, i recite 108 mantras of Ganapati during this 11 day festival. It is the faith that brings joy and peace.

Hi Geeta, Thank you for reminding me about my good old days in Pune, in the early 1980s....How we enjoyed the Ganeshotsav in those days! And the beautiful Marathi girls... I still remember them.....their dance and song..
Pune is a great place for Ganesotav. It is the root place of Ganesa festival of Maharashtra. If you have stayed in Pune, then you have seen the best. And the music and dance of Maharashtrian girls! ! ! ! Thank you Unni :)
