Carol-Anne Duffy: 'Poetry is the music of being human'
Patient humanity on their faces
They relate to each other carefully,
Without pretence or status-jousting,
Just a friendly focus on
The here and now.
Worried frowns reveal
That they are present
But not entirely correct,
As they wait for the oncologist.
But their priorities
Are in perfect working order-
They know that what really matters
Is not being alone;
And still being here.
