Gay means uncool, the kid wrote
and besides all she writes about
is animals and such stuff like that
Aside from that, of course
the kid appreciated
the themes of her poetry
which are as large
as her world was small
Emily Dickinson wrote
of fear, love, death, immortality
and man's relationship with nature
*To live is so startling
it leaves little room
for other occupations.*
She spent almost her
entire life as a recluse
in her father's house
*I like a look of agony
Because I know it's true
Men do not sham convulsion
Nor simulate a throe.*
Peruse first lines as some do
*Angels in the early morning
Beauty crowds me till I die
Candor, my tepid friend
Dare you see a soul at the white heat?
Eden is that old-fashioned house
Fame is a fickle food*
Of course, as the kid matures
he will manifest a latent wisdom
and patient laureates will welcome
him to the fold!
