'Get A Grip! ' Mick Said Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

'Get A Grip! ' Mick Said

Rating: 0.5

'Is it a post-Saint Valentine's day twitch?
All the poems posted about suicide and
being a woman with the startling revelation
that the female differs so much from the male,
whether or not she's in menopause? '
Mick said as he sat down to breakfast.

Celia looked up from her boiled eggs.
'Mick, darling, that's just another egocentric
sign of the times. Young people today
are so damned self-aware of each
and every flaw. They tend to think
of themselves as so entitled! Know
what I'm saying, macushla? '

'I guess the constant complaining
is a staple. The more we prosper,
the less content we are with our lot.
Next thing you know those damn
Yanks will elect another warmonger! '
Mick said, cutting into his sausages.
