Gazing Up, I See You Poem by Jennifer K

Gazing Up, I See You

Every yes precedes a strike of the tongue
Every sigh of relief, a held back tear
I'm a prisoner being teased with a retractible leash
No control
No way to break free
I dug myself into a hole
Every scrape for light drags me closer to the bottom
I can only hope that when i stop scraping, you'll be at the top looking down at me
I can only hope that you won't leave in boredom of my self-destructive behavior
I can only hope that by the end of this, you will still love me.

'I can only hope that by the end of this, you will still love me.' tt's every human's wish isn't it? to be loved as we are. it's a very good poem. the emotions portrayed are drawn out very well and the anguish the persona of this poem seems very real and honest to the reader. i think it's a poem many will be identify with. keep writing! :)
