Ghetto Minds Poem by Bishnupriya Mukherjee

Ghetto Minds

Cigarette in one hand,
Beer bottle in another
The youth of today have nothing got worry about-nothing to bother.
They walk with their heads held high,
The girls are not at all solemn,
Forget bout being shy.

Their morning starts at 11 sharp,
They march towards the bar,
Not the park.
Its their privilege to announce,
'We have skipped our studies,
Loitering with our buddies.'
To have no difference left between us and the animals,
We are none better than the African cannibals.

How proudly they smoke in front of their parents,
All their shame is gone,
Darn they do in their adolescence!
They have forgotten their rights; their duties
Drinking and smoking are their abilities.
Isn't it great to see such young and 'cool' creatures,
Smart talks, excellent features!

Thinking about changes,
There are variable ranges.
But what i recall-
Is if we continue to honour our dutiful citizens,
It would surely end in a drastic fall.
