Go Down Softly Poem by Priyadarsini G Menon

Go Down Softly

Come on off clouds, down aground,
Feel thy heart, slowing its beats,
Hear thy breath, leaking an escape,
See thy mind, accepting the inevitable,
Touch thy soul, tired, yet blessedly so,
Said them before, yet, saying again,
Its all okay, world is where it is, doing
What it does, why change its spin, all used,
As is, gaily dancing along, seasons and gravity;
Oddities to depart, evoking laughs a few,
As leave, they must, knowing its all good,
To chance a life, understand, acknowledge,
Limits of differences, expanses of alikeness,
Possibilities of being one in pursuit relentless,
Of pleasures ephemeral, decimation absolute,
Of thoughts, if pure, lovely, innocent;
So, go down softly, when out of sync,
Melodies don’t jar as does melancholy,
Like down of dove, float away, ruffling nary a soul.
