God Be Merciful Poem by Gary James Smith

God Be Merciful

Rating: 5.0

God Be Merciful

God be merciful to me a sinner
Was one man's temple prayer
The other fella stated all of his goodness
No humility there
A repentant heart is a must
For Christ to save a soul
It is definitely a prerequisite
For one to be made whole

For not our own righteousness is worthy
To come before the Lamb
But we must see ourselves as needy
And He the Great I am
And as a child come in humility
To enter the kingdom of Heaven
We must come just as we are
Then Christ will be our Living

With a broken and a contrite heart
We see what our sin has done
It nailed the Lord to Calvary's cross
To die for everyone
And true acknowledgement of our sin
Our Father loves to see
And sends His Spirit to impart
His life for Eternity
