God In The Stars Poem by Yewande Adedokun

When the sun is up and no one looks in the sky
At night we see the stars and our souls take flight
I found a reason why no stars for the sun
It burns, won't understand the language of fun
I find God in the stars
Always a reason to smile
At tiny cuts of defined shape in the sky
Give anything up for its light
It is not far from us
Soon we shine like it for those who look up to us
No height of love felt
Can measure up to what I see from here
I find God in the stars
I look on as my hope lingers
I take solace in the stars
As the sun won't come out for my kind
I look inside one and see papa
He looks just like me now
Young and radiant
I've looked on for so long
When I'm done standing here
You will recognize me no more
For I will be a god in the stars
