God Is Serious Poem by Michael P. Johnson

God Is Serious

Singing through life, Salvation’s song
Taking our Saviour’s lead
Upholding right and righting wrong
Planting with love Life’s Seed

Is this today some fairy tale?
A legend parents tell?
We see the world, we watch it fail
But will it end in hell

Most serious is God on high
Of how we children fare
It saddens Him to see us die
Whilst life is free to share

Like foolish children running wild
We play and act the fool
Whilst God would have us reconciled
Away from Satan’s rule

But who has ears The Truth to hear?
Who’ll spare a moment’s time?
Who’ll seek salvation while it’s near?
Who’ll turn their backs to crime?

How sad must God be on His throne?
And Jesus Christ The Lord
What must be done till hearts of stone
May flee the coming sword

Was not His life enough to pay?
Suffering so much pain
Are still our eyes so blind today?
We’d have Him die again

The price is paid the battle’s won
The world must comprehend
That life comes only through God’s Son
When knees to Him we bend
