God's Halo Poem by Leaking Pen

God's Halo

Once upon a time love and peace ruled my heady brew,
And innocence did not need a teleprompter cue.
News from the front line have not been good
From present day moviemakers in Hollywood
I suffer from their total control over my one-way train ride to oblivion,
Unlike my eyes stinging when I purposely choose to chop a raw onion.
And sorrow tears reflect my chattered inner angelic mirror,
And my soul is at total loss and suffers from total horror…
Each time when my friends coerce me to go to the movies,
It feels more like gathering of hysterical Black Sabbath groupies.
Shoot them, kill them and destroy one more time my dying planet,
Oh how I do miss The Rocky Horror Brad and his innocent Janet.
Take me back to yesteryears when low budget flicks,
Were made for art’s sake not because of the latest digital tricks
I long for hope found in black and white reels, my heart’s beat
Like in The Bishop’s Wife or Miracle On 34th Street
I suffer from mind control and no more free choices,
And I lament the death of independent creative voices.
Wake up folks! We are like sheep led to cinematic madhouse slaughter
What am I am to do, when the king of comedy looses his own laughter,
And suicide whisks away Robin Williams and sets his internal clock on full stop.
Should I from frustration, follow suit and be the next victim around the block?
“All is not lost, ” a saviour’s whisper comes to my rescue from the devil inside my ears
And says: Art is cyclical, and true art will revive and to let go of my unfounded fears.
But as my friends try to show me online examples of new comedic movies released,
But how insulting these trailers are to my soul when every swearword is used for grease,
It is obvious to me; scripts are supercharged to produce the greatest shock value
On the Richter scale, and to drum up tickets sales and distort my moral compass pursue.
I wish sooner than later, a time would come from: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
For this current generation lost in the cinematic wilderness to discover God’s halo.
