God's Own... Poem by Ganesh Veeraraghavan

God's Own...

If you can spare a minute to bend down
To kiss the humble little thorn
To feel its pain, your foot does crush
Though it's taken a little of your flesh
You can feel the thorn thanking
And feel its secret greiving
You are then God's chosen one
You made this world truly your own

When pebbles hurt your innocent path
And you can spare a minute in warmth
And ponder on the distant rock
Which has shed its body stock
To give your feet a loving massage
And make for you a kind passage
Then you can see the rock is wet
You can see some tears it's shed

If you can absorb a harsh word
Thrown at you unreasoned
If you can feel the pain in her throat
Maybe manifest in future distant
If you can then smile out her guilt
You have now a great home built
For God is a great builder
Your sweet smile His timber...

If you can smile at a door slammed
And knock it once more patient soft
And feel the heart on the other side
And let your smile broaden wide
Then all the doors in this world
Will open wide at your one word
For God does do his servant's task
A true servant doesn't anyway ask....
