God Smiled Poem by Nana S. ACHAMPONG

God Smiled

I pondered on a wish,
Tossed beauty in my mind,
And I stroked my brush

As He breathed life into you,
Before I streaked lines of sunlight
To define your frame so perfect.

Then the spirits fixed your being
With bones, muscles and flesh,
Enlivened with life’s blood.

Your body was so hot
The angels sung;
The heavens thundered.

The elements then danced
As your essence soared and floated
Through the mind of Asaase Yaa Herself.

And here you stand
A divine soul of art complete,
Beauty beyond words.

And God whispered,
‘Afua, you are fine’,
And then smiled sunshine.
