A key of golden amber hanging from a crimson tree
Shining in a clearing encircled by twelve mighty oaks
A key to open all of our hearts, a way to set us free
This place of possibility surrounded by our ghosts
What if such a thing existed, a physical shiny thing
Conjured in our minds-eye an end to all of our fears
A thing to melt our icy lives and return eternal spring
A wand, a wish a magic spell to dry away our tears
This wishful hope in fairy tales to sweep away the gloom
Confront your fiery dragon with unflinching eyes
Raise a bold sword overhead, escape your dungeon room
Your chain is forged by selfishness, ignorance and lies
No golden key, no crimson tree, no easy answers found
Our flaming dragon nonetheless will tear our world apart
Turning your world to cinders he will try and burn you down
But no fire can ever melt away the strength of a golden heart
A wand, just one flick of the wrist, to fix everything that scares us. Wouldn't that be remarkable. Another perfect poem. Thank you
Oh, but I want that place you describe so well here... I yearn for a place where I could go and physically confront those demons of the spirit, those memories of things that won't let go. Oh, the peace of it- -to stab a sword into its dragon heart and that vanquishes the sin, the memory of sin, from my life, my heart, my soul, forever and ever. It is so difficult to vanquish these gossamer ghosts that live only inside ourselves. We wish for this magic place but life is not so easy as fighting off a monstrous fire-breathing dragon. Life is for braver souls than that. Excellent topic to give your readers to ponder. Excellent writing.

Very true. It's courage and wisdom that can get us through life with dignity. Fairy tales are just an escape from reality. Only by facing up to the challenges can we survive. A golden heart is indeed one with courage, hope and wisdom. Very thoughtful write.
