Good On You Mr Reaper Poem by Francis Duggan

Good On You Mr Reaper

Rating: 3.7

Good on you Mr Reaper you do not differentiate
On people and in colour you never discriminate
From the powerful and the humble and all creatures great and small
One day sooner or later you will take life from us all.

The scythe of Mother Nature you mow tall poppies down
you claim the lives of the paupers and those who rule the Town
You cannot be bribed with money your honour without stain
The power of taking every life with you always will remain.

Good on you Mr Reaper for you treat all as the same
You are not one who pay respect to royalty, wealth or fame
Any nice things about you I've yet to read or hear
Yet you are an egalatarian and the one with power to fear.

Good on you Mr Reaper to you my toasting glass I'll raise
As the one true egalatarian we ought to sing your praise
You claim the breath of life from everyone and from all creatures great and small
The scythe of Mother Nature and the most feared one of all.
