Goodbye Poem by kaavyaa kriday

Goodbye

he stood there saying, 'i really gotta go',
i should have said 'no! '
instead i nod simply, eyes hazed with golden drops
trying to smile sweetly, i silence my secret sobs.

getting him a goodbye gift,
i bore the pain of his drift.

spending the few final moments at the airport,
my dreams of togetherness with him i quietly abort.

seeing him from me dart,
my poor heart falls apart.

his looks, smile, touch, thoughts and words
all ascertain our love, clear to even nerds,
and yet, all that he tells me is
'friends like you are very few'
with not a trace of ruffle or rue.

before the final wave,
i plan to tell all that i did for him save.

giving last glances,
i tell him 'take care'
which should have been 'i still love you'

he smiles, to make it seem like immediate approbation,
but deep within its made after some heart automatisation

with amassed energy and bubbling enthu,
i shout a startling, ' i love you',

only to be muffled by the jumbo flying over-head,

its explosive wailings before start
similar to my expressive feelings felt at heart.

watching the flight disappear to a speck of dot,
my life now, i realise is worth a naught...! !
