Goodbye Poem by Ashley Pruett

Goodbye

When we say our last goodbye’s to each other
do not think about opening the door to
another relationship between us. I cared too much for, instead
of listening to my friends and family I took
the hard road into loving you only to let you go.
Just like a bird we are free to roam around to look and flirt
with anyone we want. Without having to worry about someone
holding us down, and fussing about you
looking at someone else. Until our paths cross again
leave me be, and do not come
knocking on my door until you have grown up some.
I used to believe that we would last longer than what we did,
but you know how people change. Instead you should’ve
been happy with what you had;
now you don’t have anyone to love or care about you.
I thought the same way did, I looked at you
like a friend that I was too close to. I did not go with
my instincts when they told me that I should go far away
from you and have nothing to do with you.
You meant more to me than just a guy friend,
you was like family to me. Now you are just one of the guys
I have dated, dumb and immature you may be,
but you had my heart.
