Goodbye But Stay Poem by Kotsayi Chombo

Goodbye But Stay

Perseverance is success
I refuse to be a witness
watching the woman i love
be with someone else
I crave for that sweetness
to be your realness
the man you trust and caress
to be your pillar
fountain of your extacy

We can only be friends
words tore my heart
I never thought we would go apart
but you have to let me go to let you go
because will never settle for less
when i deserve more
I'm not saying goodbye
words i can never say
letting you know, deep inside i die
every time i feel this way

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I asked out a girl and she insisted on us being friends, i refused to settle for less but it was clear i could not have more. i tried parting ways with her but i felt a heart break, she too felt a heart break but having her as a friend is so hard for me because i want to call her my sweetheart. we couldn't part ways and at the same time we could not be together but i even want her more with each day
