Gran Your Eyes Poem by Kirstin Barnes

Gran Your Eyes

Rating: 4.5

Gran your eyes, they were so bright,
They shone with love and praise.
You stared down on me and passed it on,
I'll never forget your gaze.

Gran your eyes, they were always there,
They never looked away.
They made me strong and kept me going,
They're with me everyday.

Gran your eyes, they started to close,
And mines filled up with tears.
I cried for you for all those days,
Remembering all those years.

But gran your eyes, they were still there,
I couldn't let them go.
And so you still hung onto life,
Although you didn't know.

Gran your eyes, they saw me cry,
You asked me what was wrong.
I replyed with nothing and let you go,
I needed to be strong.

Gran your eyes, next morning they closed,
I found them shut and cold.
You were gone and I broke down,
But love won't grow to old.

The loss of a loved one, very well written and easy to empathise with, and a fitting tribute as well
