Grandson To Be! Poem by Luke Easter

Grandson To Be!

SDVE & Baby Dezi

37 years ago we played The Waiting Game,
Now our only daughter is doing the same,
Supposedly May 15 five months on the day,
Shari-Danielle is what mom & dad did say.

Where in the world did those 37 years go?
They went by so fast, the heck if we know,
From training wheels to driving on your own,
More than 100 times watching, Home Alone.

On the way to San Diego to see her cousin Trav,
Oh traveling across country with the baby's dad,
Wondered why she asked about a weight load,
Unbeknown to us she was in full stealth mode.

He is not just the father but he's also her amigo,
The good news is now I can get regular burritos,
Like mother like daughter she cooks so yummy,
A smile on my face with a rumble in my tummy.

Yes, my daughter has finally come full circle,
I remember when she used to play Steve Urkel,
Sensational Shari was one of many nicknames,
So for our grandson excellence will be the same.

Might call it a coincidence or we can call it fate,
Both becoming parents as we decided to wait,
Some will say to early but most will say too late,
Just remember that the haters will always hate.

Today on your birthday, I send this poem to you,
Job 22: 28, you see the joy that we went through,
Together you & Papa Dezi will have many years,
Where mucho laughter shall outweigh the tears.
