Grass Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Grass

Green Grass

Green grass, tell me a story about you.
It nodded but said nothing to me.
Green grass, tell me a story about you.
It said nothing in return.

I trod upon it now,
And stood upon it to show,
Who was the master here
And who was the slave.

The green grass now told me
That this is the thing you do to me.
You trample upon my green beauty.
You let me have no tranquility.

I asked the green grass
What I would like it to do.
It answered, I don't know
It's up to you.
