Green Eyes - Sharp Stare Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Green Eyes - Sharp Stare

Rating: 5.0

Those green marbled eyes
Nonchalant penetrating stare
Boring deep into mine
Showing not love but affiliation
Requesting yet at he same time demanding
Attention with commitment
Wanting without offering formal payment
Knowing he cannot, ever be denied
The whisper of a cry
Watching the foil torn intently
Releasing the fishy smell
Nose wrinkled gathering the odours
Saliva dribbling down
Washed away with one sweep of the tongue
Muted his call
“Hurry, hurry I am waiting”
Yet no sound
The eyes say it all
“I’m ready”
Setting down the repast
Nearly bowled over in his rush to eat
Gorging himself on tuna and shrimp
No thanks in sight
I am just immaterial for the time being
Just a servant
One who comes when beckoned
Unpaid but at times shown some love
Only when it’s deemed he wants attention
Or somewhere to snuggle when he sleeps
You could say he is lord of all he surveys
Cisco the top cat in my life
