Grounds For Divorce Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Grounds For Divorce

I tickle you incessantly
amid pleas and screams and squeals and snorts
of raucous laughter

You had told me someone had told you
that it came under mental cruelty & torture.

I pause and ponder
this titbit of information
...think it over and think...
“Naw? ! ”

I tell you they told you
...incorrectly

and proceed to tickle you
for both giving and receiving false information.

“Please...” you plead
and almost wee yourself.

“Now, look what you’ve made me do
...you’ve made me come.”

“I think(you smile)
I’ve just discovered another erogenous zone! ”

You beg me to tickle you some more
stating that it’s grounds for divorce
for a spouse not to tickle a spouse
until she comes and squeals like a little mouse.

God...you’ve sure changed your tune!

I’m not too sure that this will stand up in court but, here goes. ..

I crack my fingers
and you shiver in anticipation.
