'Grown' Poem by Marcus Nunnally

'Grown'

I miss you when you are not around,
though when you are close, I feel put down.
Now that I am older, you should ease on the control.
Stop trying to direct me and accept that I am grown.

When I speak my own mind no one will take heed.
I am borderlined on genius but understanding is what I need.
Why do you prevent me from revealing who I am?
It is by your direction I have come to be a man.

I do not wish to break this place, that you all call your 'home.'
Please remember this refers to me and the fact that I have grown.
I dream of being welcomed into this house, your home,
but because of subconscious treatment, I guess that's why I roam.
