Guillotine Poem by Robert Sheridan

Guillotine

Device used for beheading
Heavy blade for more than
public display during the
French Revolution – sent
out a warning (sort of a
‘head’s up’) .

Was effective in removing
higher up’s tonsils, or for
trimming hairs on the neck
line; devised by Mr. Joseph
Ignace Guillotin – year of
1789.

He recommended in a speech
that executions be performed
by a beheading device rather
than by hanging – that way,
didn’t have to get in the swing
of things.

Favorite request of those to be
beheaded was to place their
favorite book in the basket,
that way, the condemned could
get ‘a head’ in their reading!
