Guillotine Poem by Abhay Vignesh Liginlal

Guillotine

Time hurtles through life’s aimless void
Memory rewinds the world into darkness of the past
Passing fancy is a dwindling candle seconds away from oblivion
While my heart keeps throttling endless emotions;

When I look out through one window
I can only see a paradise,
When I look out through another window
I can see a world of sufferings,
When I listen to the angel and look out
I see our world,
When I listen to the devil and look out
I see no one but strangers in the paradise,
My friends are all out there in the world of sufferings
Only after salvation in this world of misery
Will I gain entry into the paradise of god;

The horizon lengthens above an air of hope at dusk
As I wait with my friends, basking in the radiance of the afterglow of twilight
To enter the real paradise, at the summit of the world of sufferings
I am a lyric, a poetic vein straying into wilderness
A shadow cast on earth by light from the heavens
The wine of poetry grows sweeter in the cup of time
While the world summons wisdom to behead fancies.
