Guilt Poem by John Richey

Guilt

If I can't see you, you can't see me.
I don't want you to be witness to my sins,
To have to bear how flawed I am.
It's difficult seeing you this way,
Searching for my misdeeds.

If I can't see you, you can't see me.
Don't pry into my life, I don't want to share.
You're better than me, so don't come knocking.
I have no pride of who I am,
Please, don't look inside.

If I can't see you, you can't see me.
I offer up the best I can,
Give you my heart but no key.
