Guy On The Bus Poem by Jasmine Ramos

Guy On The Bus

It may seem that to me you're nothing more
Than that guy on the bus.
The one I hold hands with,
And talk to.

It may seem that to me you're just a friend
That I happened to make,
And it doesn't faze me
When you get off so many stops before me.

But you mean more to me than you realize.
Although I sometimes hesitate to tell you,
Sometimes I hesitate to talk,
I know you don't knoe it -
But you mean a lot.

You understand me more than most,
And you don't pry me when I don't want to talk.
You always make me smile.
You're what I look forward to each morning.

I doubt you realize this -
How could you know?
To me you're much more
Than just that guy on the bus.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
To Javier, who seems oblivious to the fact that right now he is the one who keeps me going. He's the reason I look forward to the bus ride in the morning. He's the reason I'm trying to stop, because I don't want to see the sorrow in his eyes or hear the sorrow in his voice anymore. Once was enough.
