Half Life Poem by Alfred Ramos

Half Life

It was the first hint of dawn
When I notice you were gone
Something made you run
Before the rising of the sun
You left your pillow wet
Was it a sign of regret?
Something made you cry
Reasons I know not why
You were what kept me alive
I waited so long for love to arrive
Now I don’t know if I will survive
If love is nothing but a game
And our feelings aren’t the same
Then who is to blame
You slipped out quietly in to the night
Before the day pushed in the light
Something made you leave
A dream you couldn’t conceive
Was it all a game we played?
Forgot the promises we made
Something made you fly
Into the midnight sky
Without saying goodbye
There are no answers to my question
Driving me deeper into depression
Why did I make you my obsession?
