Happiness: Poem by Dwayne Bailey

Happiness:

I have found pure happiness,
Inside my heart and mind;
I have found sweet sweet joy,
In a simple word that’s kind.
I have seen the beauty,
Of a mountain covered in snow;
I have felt the love of others,
That I have come to know.

As I age it seems to me,
The simple things I seek;
I am no longer tempered in rage,
But rather mild and meek.
They joys I seek and feel in heart,
Can not with money buy;
You can not hold them in your hand,
Yet real I can’t deny.

For happiness does not come,
From positions that you own;
A fancy brand new car,
Or the place that you call home.
For happiness it seems to me,
Comes from in your heart;
And knowing that in the bigger scheme,
You truly are a part.
