Happiness Poem by Della Hodgson James

Happiness

True happiness is not measure
In terms of light heartedness,
Or fun loving hilarity
But is based on a bright median,
Between two extremities.
Which is a retreat for the weary soul.
After shooting the rapids of sorrow,
Or scaling the extreme
Giddy heights of merriment.
Therefore peace and contentment,
Which is likened to still waters,
Or as shady green pastures
As sunshine after the storm,
Has a very essential effect
As healing balm to the troubled soul,
And mind, wherein true happiness
Has it's origin, and is felicity,
Beautiful and blessedness.
