Happy Birthday, My Dear Daughter! Poem by Dr John Celes

You are no more a kid, my child, you’ve grown!
In life, you have to walk in lanes, your own;
But you must do by keeping God o’er-head;
‘Carry your cross and follow me, ’ Christ said.

‘Your childhood days have ended, ’ my daughter;
Life may have lesser smiles and less laughter;
Nevertheless, you ought to be brave, bold;
You have a duty to your parents old!

Take things as they come on to you in life;
By praying, God protects you in all strife;
Your walk with God will help your earth’s journey;
Never leave God and go after money!

Our time on earth is shorter than we think;
Our callousness may take us to harm’s brink;
Your only Friend is God in all you do;
He is your Benefactor and Guide too.

Each birthday makes you wiser than before;
Ask God to bestow grace for soul much more;
Our human strength can’t help us pull off feats;
We must walk, run and dance to Maker’s beats!

Thank God for all the good things, He has done;
Thank Him for planning future bright as sun;
Thank Him for mercy, grace immensely shown;
With God beside, you are never alone!
