Hard Done By Poem by David Harris

Hard Done By

It makes me mad
when someone says they hard done by
because they did not get everything
for Christmas or their birthday.
They never look and see
what they really have.
Theirs eyes are only for material things.
They forget the love that surrounds them
from their family and friends.
That should be enough for anyone to have.
It’s better than being unloved
and having very few friends,
feeling lonely everyday.
I have had my share of that.
Parents who did not care,
who shamed you for what you did.
Do not tell me you are hard done by
because you did not get material things
for Christmas and your Birthday.
There are people out there
who have a lot less than you,
and you will not hear them whine and complain.
Just look around you at what you have
and be thankful for it.
There are those far worse of than you.
