Treasure Island

Peter S. Quinn

Harmafregn

Mig dreymir hið djúpa myrkur,
dagsins renna upp;
og ljómi og ásýnd lífsins,
líða undir lok.

Mig dreymdi fölnuð blóðug blóm,
blómstra sínum dauðadóm;
og gjósttugur vindur gleðisnauðra,
grafa upp myndir úr ríki dauðra.

Mig dreymdi frosinn fölan vanga,
og fálm inn í myrkur, nóttin langa;
og dagsljós var ekki veröld í,
því vonin var brostin,
hið dimmrauða ský.

Hin gullnu laufblöð lífsins,
lágu á víð og dreif.

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.
