Have No Fear (Revised) Poem by Göran Gustafsson

Have No Fear (Revised)

I wrote you a letter, I wrote it so kind
I rang you a long distance call
I whispered words of love in your ear
And cried in the thunders roar
So listen, my dear, no reason for fear
When I come back and knock on your door

I walked in the desert of seven dead forests
I crawled through the dirt and despair
I carved me a tunnel without any gear
And pierced through your maiden floor
So listen, my dear, no reason for fear
When I lie on your bedroom shore

I swam in your limbless liquid bed
I swayed in the waves of your sea
I promised to buy you a singin' bird
And knew you're the one I adore
But hush, little sweetie, don't say a word
When I leave you to fight the last war

I came back to see you, that was our fate
There were no roads of escape
We broke the bread and drank the wine
We fell and embraced the fall
But listen, my dear, give heed to the sign
When I read you the words on the wall

When the last of leaves has lost its tree
The lemon fruit is left for me
And far into sundown's silent spheres
The bird is gone and sings no more
But listen, my dear, no reason for tears
We shall meet on the other shore
